RELAX: Stop the Spread
posted by Law | March 30, 2020 | In NewsEverything is coming up coronavirus.
A singular event unites as all—one voice, one city, one state, one nation—bound together by this global pandemic, and in order to fight back, together we must venture alone. And we’re calling it #SocialDistancing.
As new data is uncovered, countries are closing their borders, businesses are modifying their practices, and communities are being forced into quarantine, isolation, and shelter-in-place protocols.
In order to live your best life, you must understand how to protect your loved ones and yourself. Here are a few terms and explanations which will help you to adapt to this new age of united but separated:
Shelter-in-place: These people are being asked to stay at home as much as possible, meaning they should not be out unless getting food, gas or other essentials, or for medical reasons.
Quarantine: This is for people who may have been exposed to the virus. They are asked to stay at home or, as in the case with people who were repatriated from China to the United States, to stay in a provided facility.
Isolation: This is for people who actually have the virus or suspect they may be infected. People who have been infected with the virus may be asked to self-isolate at home if they have no symptoms or are only mildly ill.
As we continue to face this new reality, at least for now, follow these tips from the World Health Organization to keep yourself safe and help contain the spread of the virus.
- Wash your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds.
- Avoid touching your face, eyes, mouth, and nose.
- Avoid contact with people who are vulnerable. If you can’t, wear a mask.
- Cover your cough with the bend of your elbow.
- Disinfect surfaces you regularly use.
- If you feel unwell, stay at home and call your healthcare provider.
- Only share information from trusted sources.
