The 2022 Fayetteville State University Comedy Show Surprises Student Body
posted by Jamilyn Wallace | October 25, 2022 | In NewsThe HBCU comedy show during Homecoming week is an event to which every student looks forward. It is very popular amongst the students, especially if they have a good line-up.
The line-up for this year’s comedy show at Fayetteville State University included comedians Ronnie Jordan and MTV Wild N’ Out’s Tyler Chronicles. The host for the night was social media star @iamzoie. He was who the majority of the attendees came to see.
The event took place October 5, at 8:00 pm. It started out with members of FSU’s Student Activities Council (SAC), coming on stage to hype the crowd up before iamzoie came out.
As soon as iamzoie came out on stage, the crowd was in an uproar. Everyone had their phones out and was cheering for iamzoie. He eventually made his way off stage into the crowd and was singing songs with the students and dancing.
The first comedian iamzoie introduced was Ronnie Jordan. It took him a little while to warm up to the crowd, but some of his jokes did make the crowd laugh.
This FSU senior had this to say about Jordan’s performance: “This was my first time seeing him and I could tell that he was someone to come out and get the crowd going for the main act.”
Another student said: “There were some moments where the crowd wasn’t really feeling him, but he recovered well.”
The biggest surprise performance of the night was MTV Wild N’ Out’s Tyler Chronicles. He was recognized by some students at FSU, but to others this was a new comedian. The students had positive feedback for Chronicles, and felt like he helped the show tremendously.
One student said: “Tyler did come in clutch…I did enjoy his part because he brought more laughs to it.”
Anpother student said: “My favorite part was hearing from Tyler, because even though he was being very funny, he gave us life advice that we could take advantage of.”
There were some moments where the students felt that iamzoie could’ve done more. He only came onstage twice, to get the crowd hyped between performances. The students enjoyed him so much that they wished they could have seen more of him.
“My expectations were to hear and see more of Zoie, but overall, even though I didn’t see him as much, it was a really great show,” said one student.
Another student said: “I did expect a little more from Zoie, even though I know he’s not a comedian exactly.”
Last year’s comedy show had social media star and comedian, Desi Banks, headline. In comparison to last year’s show, this year was a good follow up according to the feedback from the student body.
