DEAR EBONY: I’m having a hard time losing weight. What should I do?

DEAR MUFFIN TOP NO MORE: When trying to lose weight, talk to your doctor first. They will have many healthy alternatives you can try that are safe. In addition, the doctor may want to run tests to ensure you do not have any other health issues such as a thyroid disorder.

Keep in mind that the best weight loss program is a combination diet and exercise regimen. When creating a diet and exercise plan, do not binge-diet or starve yourself and make sure to keep you workout goals realistic.

If you live on campus, call Student Health Services at (910) 672-1259 and they will help you along the way.

One important thing to remember is to maintain a positive mindset throughout the whole process! Above all, know that you are beautiful just the way you are. Telling yourself this everyday will make losing weight easier and more rewarding.

DEAR EBONY: What should I do if my boyfriend doesn’t pay attention to me? Should I do something special? Or maybe move on?

DEAR BOYFRIEND DRAMA: Sitting down and having a talk with your boyfriend should shed light on the situation. Tell him how you feel about him not showing you attention; he probably feels the same way about you. Communication is key with relationships and helps you both maintain a clear understanding of what you expect from each other.

Additionally, doing something special for him is a great idea. Make sure that it’s something he likes and that it will be fun for the two of you. It could bring you closer together and make your relationship more adventurous!
