COVID 19 Leaves All of Sports on the Bench
posted by Antonio Mitchell | March 30, 2020 | In News, SportsDue to covid-19 the sports world is shut down and people are bored….
On March 15, Rudy Gobert of the Utah Jazz was the first athlete in America to test positive for the coronavirus. Following the positive test, the NBA suspended its season until the virus was under control.
Then a couple hours later Gobert’s teammate Donovan Mitchell also tested positive virus.
Gobert contracted the virus following an incident, in which he was asked by a reporter what was opinion on the virus and he decided to touch reporters’ microphones then proceeded to walk away from the press conference.
Gobert’s own teammate Mitchell was upset with him for a while because of his actions and felt he was the reason why he received the virus.
Mitchell said “it took him a while to cool off” after he tested positive. Mitchell also stated that “I think the scariest thing about the virus is that you may seem fine.”
Other NBA players that have tested positive for the coronavirus are Boston Celtics’ Marcus Smart, Brooklyn Nets’ Kevin Durant, and two unidentified Lakers. That just goes to show the impact of the coronavirus had on the NBA.
One big named soccer player named Paulo Dybala also tested positive for the coronavirus. Professional sports across the globe have suspended their seasons, including MLS, MLB, Premiere League, Champions League, La Liga, and many other soccer leagues across the globe
The coronavirus had a huge impact on college sports as well, cancelling the men’s and women’s NCAA basketball tournament and all of the conference tournaments. This left senior players at that point in the season to be their last time playing collegiate sports.
All these cancellations have left sports fans with nothing to watch during their time at home.
Now with this lockdown and no sports to watch what will we do?
