The Fayetteville State University Broncos football team had another big margin victory over Livingstone College. The game—played at Livingtone in Salisbury, NC—ended with 44 points for the Broncos and only 7 for Livingstone. Having the record for the Broncos improve to 5-2 for the season, leaving Livingstone 2-5.
The defense for the Broncos again helped them win the game getting 8 sacks throughout the game and keeping Livingstone to just one touchdown. Particularly from the plays of Enoch Howard with an interception, Kentrell Caldwell with 8 tackles and an interception, and Gerald Simpson with 9 tackles and a fumble recovery that led to a touchdown.
Broncos offense also played strongly as freshman quarterback Demari Daniels had 112 passing yards, throwing 2 touchdowns. Daniels had no interceptions and added 52 rushing yards. The two touchdowns were both caught by Barry Elliott, and he had 88 yards.
The offense overall had a dominant day getting 510 total yards, with 201 passing yards and 309 yards on the ground. The defense allowed 168 total yards, with Livingstone only having 112 passing yards and 56 rushing yards.
All-in-all, another great game for the Broncos whose defense is really showing it’s worth—while also being very active and exciting to watch during every game.
The Broncos won, 21-13, against Johnson C. Smith away on October 22.
FSU Broncos Women’s Volleyball Team win in 5 sets over St. Augustine
The Broncos won in 5 sets against St. Augustine University, winning the first set in a dominant 25-13. The Broncos then put the pressure on St. Augustine by winning the second set 25-20. However, St. Augustine stayed fought to stay in the game.
After the first two straight wins for FSU, St. Augustine came back winning the next two sets. The third came close, ending 25-22 for Augustine. The fourth ending 25-23 which was just as nail biting as the third. It all came down to the fifth and final set.
The Broncos really pulled themselves together and started a big lead early in the set and never let St. Augustine have a chance to come back. With the Broncos winning the set 15-7, the game ended 3-2.
This win will bring the team to 11-9 overall, while St. Augustine will go to 5-7 in CIAA games.
The Broncos won against Claflin, 3-1, away on October 20.
