FSU Volleyball Beats Clafin in a 3-0 Sweep
posted by Zaire Jones | November 7, 2023 | In News, SportsThe FSU Broncos got a huge win October 30 against Claflin University in a 3-0 set sweep. The Broncos now advance to 3-1 at Capel Arena,12-3 in the conference, and 15-12.
The FSU Broncos dominated every stat, having more points, kills, digs, blocks, aces and assists in their way to this victory.
In the first set, FSU started out strong with a 6-0 advantage to start. Clafin would bounce back, and even tied the game at 11. After a couple of ties in the game, FSU was able to pull away from Claflin with four straight win sets up 19-15. After, FSU seemed to be on the ropes again but were able to finish the first set off winning 25-19.
In the second set, similar to the first set, the Broncos with a 3-0 start. Their lead would start to get challenged as Claflin would ring up 4 straight points to make it 4-3. It was a deadlock for both teams 8-8 until the Broncos would rally 5 sets to make 14-9 and the last 3 sets to finish off the second set 25-17.
The Broncos had a great start to the third set with a 10-3. The theme would continue with Claflin as they would come back to close the gap to two at one point. FSU knew they had finished off the sweep as they got consecutive runs including the three set to finish off Claflin winning 25-17 again.
The FSU volleyball team also claimed victory in their second to last home game On November 2 against Johnson C. Smith University.
The Broncos are looking to finish the season off strong as they get ready for the CIAA Championship Tournament.
