The Phillies are going back to the NLDS after dominating the Miami Marlins in a 2-0 sweep.
The Phillies were able to get a solid pitching effort from their ace Aaron Nola as he went 7 innings only allowing 3 hits, 3 strikeouts and no earned runs.
The Phillies would get on the board in the bottom of the third with a RBI double from Kyle Schwarber. Trea Turner would follow with an RBI single shortly after to make it 2-0 Phillies.
Star catcher J.T. Realmuto hit a home run in the bottom of the sixth inning to make it 3-0.
It wasn’t until the bottom of the 6th inning when the place went crazy. With bases loaded, Bryson Stott hit a grand slam to make it a 7-0 game to widen the lead.
The Phillies now head to Atlanta for a best of five series in the NLDS.
The two National League East rivals will run it back from last year’s NLDS where the Phillies won in 4 games.
Rangers Dominates Rays 7-1 in to Advance to the ALDS
The Texas Rangers are moving on to ALDS after winning both games against the Rays in the best of 3 series.
The strong pitching of Nathan Eovaldi was key in the victory for Texas. Eovaldi would go onto pitch 6.2 innings pitched, 6 hits allowed, 1 earned run and 8 strikeouts.
The game was at a stalemate until the 4th inning. Adolis García hit a solo home run to put the Rangers on the board. Josh Jung would then hit an RBI triple to make it 2-0. And the finishing blow came with a two-run homer by Evan Carter.
The Rangers would add insurance runs in the 5th and 6th innings courtesy of Corey Seager, Marcus Semien and Nathaniel Lowe.
This is the first time the Texas Rangers have won a playoff series since 2011, beating the Detroit Tigers to advance to the World Series.
Up next is the surprise of the year, the Baltimore Orioles who are in the playoffs for the first time since 2016. They are coming off an impressive 101-61 winning the AL East.
D-backs use 4 run 6th to best Brewers 5-2, Advance to NLDS
In game 2, the Arizona Diamondbacks were able to get the job done to sweep the Milwaukee Brewers and the series to Advance to the NLDS.
Similar to game 1, the Brewers were able to get on the board first with a Sal Frelick sacrifice fly RBI and a Willy Adames RBI single for a 2-0 lead.
It was the long ball that was able to get Arizona on the board in Game 1 and Game 2 was no different. Alek Thomas hit a solo home run in the top of the 5th inning to cut the lead to a run.
In the top of the 6th inning, the Diamondbacks were able to take the lead with a Ketel Marte RBI single to make it 3-2. A wild pitch and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. An RBI single would make it a 5-2 game.
Their next challengers in the NLDS, the Dodgers, won the season series 8-5 against Arizona in the regular season.
Minnesota Twins beats Jays 2-0 in Game 2, Advance to ALDS
The Minnesota Twins have finally won themselves a playoff series, the first since 2002. They now face AL West Champion Houston Astros in the ALDS.
Twins pitcher Sonny Gray pitched a well-rounded game. He finished with 5 hits, 6 strikeouts and no earned runs through the 5 innings he pitched.
The Twins were able to get 7 hits off Blue Jays pitchers. The two scoring hits came from an RBI single from Carlos Correa and Willi Castro groundout double play to drive in another RBI.
The Twins will now face the reigning World Series Champions, Houston Astros. The Astros have dominated the American League for the past 5-6 seasons with 5 American League pennants since 2017.
