Volunteer Opportunities Close to Campus through CFBG
posted by Cassandra Carter | October 20, 2016 | In Arts and CultureStudents and organizations looking for volunteer hours and positions are in luck! Cape Fear Botanical Garden is seeking out volunteers for their current and upcoming events.
Located off N. Eastern Blvd, the Garden is currently hosting Nature Connects; Art with LEGO Bricks, an exhibit featuring larger-than-life sculptures of nature. Volunteers are needed to lead tours, supervise LEGO stations, and lead special events.
Those with an artistic flair are wanted to help carve pumpkins for the Halloween at the Boo-tanical Garden. Tools and pumpkins are provided for the carving on October 27. The Halloween event will be that weekend from 6-9 p.m. and volunteers are needed at the different stations located throughout the Gardens.
Holiday Lights in the Garden, running December 9-30 from 5:15-6:15 p.m. needs volunteers to help with craft stations, as elves for Santa, tour guides, and at the S’mores station (yes, S’mores).
Volunteer training is required for each event and dates can be viewed at capefearbg.org. All interested students should email Brianne McMahon at bmcmahon@capefearbg.org.
Internships are available at the Gardens and students should reach out to the department that would be of interest at capefearbg.org.
Become a Garden member and receive FREE admission for a full year; general admission is $10.
